Our Environments
At Gilgandra Preschool the environment is viewed as the third teacher contributing to the children's learning and development journey.
Indoor
In mid-2020, Gilgandra Preschool completed an extension of the service adding another classroom, reception and administrative spaces, with the design resembling the home environment enhancing access and inclusiveness.
Our indoor environments include:
- 2 classrooms which are available to all children for access which are well furnished
- 2 Therapy spaces
- Office space
- Inclusive kitchen for the involvement of children
- Full utilities
- Meeting facilities
- Well furnished spaces
Outdoor
In 2021 the our outdoor space at Gilgandra Preschool was reinvented with upgrades being carried out and a new playground established which reflects our philosophy and has increased the usability of all spaces.
The outside environment is an extension of inside, integrating our intervention programs into the space.
The area includes:
- Bush tucker garden
- Veggie and herb gardens
- Orchard
- Fire pit with yarning circle
- Therapy frame
- Atelier (art studio)
- Monkey bars
- In ground trampoline
- Several sand pits
- Mud patch with working water pump
- Bike track
- Worm farm and Compost
Our Pets
Gilgandra Preschool have a range of pets that add a level of education for the children through developing a sense of nurture and responsibility through the process of being actively involved in their daily care.
Our pets include:
- Gilly the Bearded Dragon
- Red and Amos the Blue Tongue's
- Cecil the axolotl
- Snowy, Uncle Josh and Redback the chickens
- Bobcat the yabby
